Duo Andaluza

Stijn Konings (Guitar) & Nicolas Dupont (Violin) decided to create the 'Duo Andaluza' in 2013, to explore the fascinating repertoire for this intimate and virtuoso combination of instruments and to share it with their audience trough passion and enthousiasm.

Their repertoire contains all periods and styles, reaching from Vivaldi to Piazzolla, exploring Baroque, Classical, Romantic or contemporary music, alongside traditional Spanish, Eastern-European or South-American popular music.

They have been playing concerts in France, Italy and Belgium and have made recordings for the Belgian classical radios 'Musiq3' and 'Klara'.

In march 2014 they were invited at the UNESCO-headquarters in Paris as well as the Belgian Embassy.

In september 2015 the Duo Andaluza recorded the 'Suite de Montsouris' by Wilfried Westerlinck, which was written for them.

In September 2019 they will record their first CD for 'Da Vinci Classics'.

Stijn Konings

Stijn Konings (°1993) started playing the guitar at the age of eleven with Wim Brioen - a former student of Alexandre Lagoya.
Noticing his talent, Mr Brioen sends him often to Olivier Chassain in France for Masterclasses, and to other teachers such as Fernando Espi, Elliot Fisk, Jim Smith,...

In 2011 Stijn is accepted at the 'Conservatoire Jacques Thibaud' in Bordeaux (FR) in the class of Olivier Chassain, and the next year he passes the entrance exam for the 'Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris', where he graduates a few years later with the highest honours.

Together with Belgian violinist Nicolas Dupont, Stijn is exploring the guitar-violin repertoire, with the 'Duo Andaluza'. They are being coached by the french cellist Agnès Vesterman at the CNSM of Paris, were often invited to play in France and in Belgium and recorded for the Belgian classical radio station 'Musiq3'.

Together with French guitarist Romaric Martin, Stijn explores the guitar duo repertoire, under the name of 'Duo Tarentelle'. They have been playing in Belgium and France, amongst other during the 'un Hommage au duo Ida Presti-Alexandre Lagoya' Festival.
